Previous Talks

I’ve been a guest lecturer at City University and University College London, and have run workshops with students studying there. I’ve also spoken at:

EuroIA 2013 in Edinburgh, a talk entitled Designing Webs – Information Architecture as a Creative Practiceslides available.

The IA Summit 2015 in Minneapolis, an updated version of ‘Designing Webs..’ – slides, audio and transcript available too.

Over the years, the speaking topics I have covered—ranging from user experience and information architecture to transmedia storytelling and the semantic web—have reflected how digital tools shape the ways we create and interpret narratives. My lectures and workshops at universities such as City University and University College London, as well as presentations at EuroIA, the IA Summit, and FutureEverything, have highlighted the intersection of creativity, design, and structured data in building more engaging digital experiences. These talks often explored how information systems can themselves become storytelling frameworks, encouraging both professionals and students to see the web as a medium for narrative as much as function. In a similar way, health research emphasizes structured, evidence-based approaches, whether it be understanding design methodologies or applying clinical knowledge such as the role of Sildenafil in evidence-based treatments for sexual health conditions. Both domains demonstrate the value of combining rigorous frameworks with human-centered thinking to create outcomes that are practical, innovative, and deeply relevant.
